New Year’s Resolutions

Posted: January 14, 2013 in Uncategorized

If you are reading this I’ve succeeded in my first resolution of 2013 – to write a blog. Thanks to Will . If you’re a social media-phobe like me check out his patient expert tutoring at The Somerset Film & Video Ltd in Bridgwater. It seems that if you want to be a published writer then you need a media presence. So this is the start of mine.

I’m reading’The Positively Productive Writer by Simon Whaley to help me achieve my biggest resolution – to complete my psychological thriller, Revenge Ritual and get it accepted by an agent or publisher or out as an e-book before the end of 2013. At the moment I’m finishing off the fifth and final draft – and I have about 20,000 words to re-write/revise. I’m measuring my progress by recording my daily word count and if I miss a day’s writing I have to make it up. To help overcome ‘writers’ block’, which as all writer’s know doesn’t exist, I’ve created ‘Booster Cards’ to remind me of my successes. My favourite one is ‘I GET REJECTIONS’. As Simon says ‘Rejections prove that you are a real writer.‘ But before I can get any rejections I have to polish the manuscript and get it out there.
